Patient guide
What to expect during imaging
A simple guide to help you feel prepared and confident before, during, and after your imaging appointment.

Medical imaging can feel unfamiliar, especially if it is your first scan. Knowing what happens before, during, and after your appointment can make the experience feel easier and more comfortable.
At Clarity Imaging, our team is here to explain each step, answer your questions, and make sure you know what to expect.
Before your appointment
Your preparation depends on the type of imaging you are having. Some scans require no preparation, while others may involve fasting, changing into a gown, or avoiding certain foods or medications.
Before your appointment, review the instructions provided by our team. If you are unsure about anything, contact us before arriving.
Bring with you:
Your photo ID
Insurance information
Referral or imaging order, if required
A list of current medications
Previous imaging records when requested
When you arrive
Our team will confirm your appointment details and complete any necessary registration. We may ask a few questions about your medical history, current medications, allergies, and the reason for your scan.
If you have concerns about the procedure, this is a good time to let us know.
During your scan
Before the scan begins, a technologist will explain what will happen and help you get positioned comfortably.
What does the scan feel like?
Most imaging procedures are painless. Some may involve mild pressure, an enclosed space, or the need to remain still for several minutes.
If contrast is required, you may notice a brief sensation such as warmth or a metallic taste. Your care team will explain what to expect before it is given.
You can always speak up. If you feel uncomfortable, anxious, or need a break, let your technologist know.
After your imaging
Once the scan is complete, your technologist will let you know if there are any immediate instructions to follow. In most cases, you can return to your normal activities right away.
If contrast was used, you may receive additional instructions depending on the type of examination.
How results are reviewed
After your appointment, your images are carefully reviewed by a qualified radiologist. The radiologist prepares a report based on the images and sends the findings to your referring healthcare provider.
Your provider can then discuss the results with you and explain what they mean for your care.
A calmer experience, from start to finish
Imaging does not have to feel complicated. From check-in to results, our team focuses on clear communication, thoughtful care, and making sure you know what comes next.
